Names are important because they are a means of self-revelation! By revealing His name and various titles, God is revealing His character to us so that we can grow in our relationship with Him.

Four critical reasons we should study the names of God:

• The commandment to honor His name. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain…” Exodus 20:7

• The inherent greatness of His name. “How majestic is Your name in all the earth…” Psalm 8:1

• The protection provided by His name. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10

• The growth of our faith. “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You…” Psalm 9:10
