Focused on Matthew 6:33
In order to help churches grow again, we point church leaders to a kingdom focus for their congregation. These principles are derived from Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all of these things will be added to you.”
Kingdom focus results in a long-term pattern of growth. No event, program or personality will create lasting church growth. Instead, we must daily focus on “the kingdom of God and His righteousness”.
Kingdom focus energizes and engages spiritually. When we pray, disciple and serve, we focus the heart on the things of God. The church will grow when the congregation comes to the realization that life is not about them.
Kingdom focus brings purpose and meaning at all levels. The same spiritual disciplines that grow us individually will grow us as a faith family.
BRINGING ABOUT KINGDOM GROWTH
Some churches consider growth by conversion, where an individual may make a public confession of faith in Christ. Though this is a part of the salvation process, we believe in emphasizing kingdom growth, that a new Christian immediately becomes a part of the kingdom of God. Kingdom growth emphasizes that the new Christian begins growing and serving God right now, with their life, instead of waiting to go to heaven at some future date. The kingdom growth philosophy more effectively brings a Christian into an active and reproductive faith.
In order to bring about kingdom growth in a church, we help the church in three areas:
Get the entire church praying. We will experience the reality of God’s Kingdom if we are in communication with the King.
Teach the principles of God’s Kingdom. Encourage the congregation that their families, lives and professions can advance God’s Kingdom daily.
Choose and resource a Kingdom activity. Move the church to actions that show and share Christ in their sphere of influence.
